For the second time in the history, inaugural round of Speedway Euro Championship will be held in German Güstrow. This time, the best European riders will fight for the classification points on July 16, 2016.
First meeting in Güstrow was taken in 2014 and back then, Nicki Pedersen got the triumph at the full packed stadium. Everyone were unanimously underlining the great atmosphere in the stands. Except Pedersen, Peter Kildemand and Janusz Kołodziej stood on the podium.
At the end of 2014, fans decided that Güstrow event was the best and the most passionate one among all of them. One year later, at the Speedway Stadion, round of Speedway Best Pairs Cup was held and it was Russians who reached the ultimate win.
What's interesting, local track is made of slag - thing that's definitely not common in the present times. It's 298 metres long and Piotr Protasiewicz is the rider who's been holding the record time there. It's a tough, technical oval, not the one to be easily dealt with.
- How did I react, when I got the news about the inauguration in Güstrow? I was really glad that I'll get the chance to redeem after my poor performance in 2014. It's a really specific and a tough track. I can't tell it's one of my favourites, so I'd better start my preparations for this first round (laugh) - said Individual European Champion 2013 Martin Vaculik.
