Daugavpils will be 12th location, where the Speedway Euro Championship round will be held. Up to now, through three years, best European riders have visited eleven different cities. What's interesting, it was only Togliatti, which hosted SEC crew more than once. It was in Russia, where fans could watch the passionate fight for every point (2013 and 2014). In 2016, TOP 16 of Speedway Euro Championship will ride in German Güstrow again. Togliatti, mentioned before will be the host for the third time in history.
However, Daugavpils will be the new location for SEC round. In the previous years, at the stadium in Latvia, only eliminations to SEC Challenge took place. Lokomotiv Daugavpils is the team, which uses this stadium on a daily basis. They've been a part of the ... Polish league since 2005. In 2015, Lokomotiv gained the biggest success in the club's history of racing in Poland. Team led by Nikolai Kokin won the Nice PLŻ, however haven't filled all the requirements to get the licence for starting in Ekstraliga.
Up to now, Speedway Euro Championship cycle visited six countries: Poland, Croatia, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Denmark. In 2016, they'll be joined by the 7th country - Latvia.
