Solid Wild Cards 9 years ago | 14.10.2015, 09:49
Solid Wild Cards

In every Speedway European Championships round there's a wild card given, which allows to start in the meeting and we've got to admit that this year's choices were really accurate, because 3 out of 4 riders advanced at least to the race-off heat.

Let's start from this less effective though, which in that case was Michael Haertel, who made only 1 point (on Vaclav Milik) during the 2nd round in Landshut. In his other heats, young German was bravely fighting with the others, but couldn't pass the rivals.
3 other riders were in a way different moods. Fredrik Lindgren and Mateusz Szczepaniak gathered 9 points each (Kumla and Ostrów Wielkopolski).

However, Swede's performance wasn't a surprise, local rider from Ostrów impressed many (by beating f.e. European Champion Emil Sayfutdinov).

Lindgren was even closer to the final, when struggling hard with Grigorij Laguta in the race-off heat in Kumla. After being passed by Russian, Lindgren wasn't able to shut the gas down to overtake SEC bronze medalist 2013. Ultimately, "Freddie" was excluded and didn't reach the final.

It was Paweł Przedpełski though, who had the best performance out of the wild card holders. During the meeting at Motoarena, Przedpełski finished 2nd and it was without any doubt the best performance of this year's wild card riders. Pole was reading the track well, finding some good paths and was trying to get the best position possible. Long story short, Paweł was acting really wisely. His 2nd place was fully deserved. It's worth mentioning that he lost only with Nicki Pedersen, but beat Emil Sayfutdinov (who was unbeaten untill the final heat).
