The history of the Speedway Euro Championship rounds at the Güstrow venue continues to be written. This time, the facility located at Plauer Chaussee 4 will host the second round of this year's series. As always, unforgettable competition awaits us!
The best speedway riders of the Old Continent will fight for valuable championship points in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for the eleventh time. Over the years, hundreds of thrilling heats have taken place on this technical oval, and the fans gathered in the stands have consistently witnessed competition at the highest level.
When analyzing the course of previous SEC events at this venue, it is easy to come to one conclusion. The "king" of the Güstrow track is Leon Madsen. The Dane has missed only two of all eleven rounds. In his starting history here so far, the two-time Individual European Champion has lined up at the tapes 51 times, scoring a total of 91 points. Madsen has stood on the podium of these local rounds a staggering five times. Can the current series leader, following the inauguration in Zielona Góra, maintain his excellent streak on this track?
In the context of fond memories from Güstrow, riders such as Kai Huckenbeck, Andzejs Lebedevs, Patryk Dudek, and Mikkel Michelsen should not be forgotten. Each of them has finished in the top three at least twice and will certainly do everything they can to close the gap on the leading Madsen in the interim standings.
Who else can be considered among the favorites fighting for the top spots? It is worth keeping a close eye on the performances of Michael Jepsen Jensen. His ability to perfectly hug the inside line on such a technical track can yield tremendous results. Mathias Pollestad will also want to join the fight at the front. The Norwegian is coming off a fantastic SEC debut in Zielona Góra, where the young rider finished sixth.
Experience is a crucial factor needed to compete in Güstrow. This is certainly not lacking for Maciej Janowski, Piotr Pawlicki, and Kacper Woryna, for whom today's competition is a perfect opportunity to bounce back after weaker performances in Zielona Góra.
The younger riders will also strive for the best possible result. This includes the currently reigning U-21 Individual World Champion, Nazar Parnitskyi, and the "wild card" Tyler Haupt, for whom this will be the first opportunity to compete against the world's top speedway riders.
